Propagation and dispersion of shock waves in magnetoelastic materials
Previous studies examining the response of magnetoelastic materials to shock waves have predominantly focused on applications involving pulsed power generation, with limited attention given to the actual wave propagation characteristics. This study provides detailed magnetic and mechanical measurements of magnetoelastic shock wave propagation and dispersion. Laser generated rarefacted shock wav...
متن کاملShock Waves
Shock wave theory was first studied for gas dynamics, for which shocks appear as compression waves. A shock wave is characterized as a sharp transition, even discontinuity in the flow. In fact, shocks appear in many different physical situation and represent strong nonlinearity of the physical processes. Important progresses have been made on shock wave theory in recent years. We will survey th...
متن کاملExtracorporeal shock waves act by shock wave-gas bubble interaction.
The effect of extracorporeal shock waves on hemoglobin release from red blood cells was recently found to be minimized under minute static excess pressure. It was proposed that this can be explained by shock wave-gas bubble interaction. We substantiated this further by two experiments by applying shock waves to suspended human RBC in a lithotripter at a lower frequency (1 pulse every 5 s) and b...

An experimental survey of CH absorption near the QojC?) and Qlc(7) lines of the {A2A (v=0) ♦ XZn (v=0» band was obtained at 2840°K, 0.2 atm using a remotely located cw ring dye laser source and a shock tube. Mixtures of methane and argon were shock heated to provide reproducible peak concentrations of CH, and narrow-line absorption was measured in repeated experiments with the laser set at diff...
متن کاملOblique Shock Waves and Shock Reflection ∗ †
Oblique and conical shock waves are generated as solid projectile flies supersonically, or as a planar shock wave is reflected along a ramp. We study the stability of oblique shock waves for full Euler system of equations in gas-dynamics. The stability criterion is applied to the discussion of regular shock reflection phenomena and the transition of a regular shock reflection to Mach reflection.
